Just joined army? Went 11X?

Anyway just sworn in a all that good stuff and im stoked, Boot camp is january at Fort Benning. Anyway i know 11x is everything infantry but I really wanna be a mortar man which is 11C I thank. My recruiter told me they just ign you to 11c or 11b when you get to your school after basic is there anyway i can recommend that i be a 11c(mortar-man). I don't wanna just leave me job to faith and luck lol.
