Is there any type of science behind dream interpretation?

It's very subjective, so not a true science, at least not hard science. There is research done on it. Counselors and psychologists often avoid dream interpretation because there is no way to know if they are right or not. There is the fear that the client would agree with whatever they said. Freudians and Jungians are big into dream interpretation. If you read up on it you will find there is a lot of symbolism and rich meaning to dreams. Freud called them the Golden Road to the unconscious. More recently theorists suggest we process all the information from our waking experiences while we sleep. Too much to spin through directly so we categorize using symbols. Experiences help us to form a cognitive map of the world and how we see reality. Good luck and happy reading. That is the place to start.
