I don't understand my ex boyfriend??!!?

My ex boyfriend split up with me like month and half ago, he said that he didnt see a future with us. we had been seeing each over for over 8 month and i was heartbroken!! a few weeks ago he blackberry message me about a sport team i like and i reply and he message me back but i didnt reply after that. then 2 weeks ago i lost my fone and all my numbers, so was unable to used my blackberry instant messager. then on the weekend my ex started texting me, first i didnt know who it was as i have lost all my numbers. he text me a few times and i reply, but as i was out so i stopped texing him. i'm a little confused as why he is contactng me, as we hardly left things on good terms
